During the period 2016-2020, Iraq was able to achieve 6.5 on the Goals Progress Index. In 2016, Iraq achieved 56.6, ranking 118th out of 157 countries, advancing to 63.1 in 2020 and 113.0 out of 166 countries. It achieved a regional score from 62.3 to 66.3 at the bright level. The value of Iraq’s degree of progress is almost acceptable compared with the levels of progress achieved by the rentier states, in particular Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. This is due to the problems that Iraq continues to face, such as unemployment, poverty and other indicators that we will address later.
