The Managing Director of Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning, Dr. Ali Taher Al-Hammood, met with a group of resident researchers at the New Lines Institute in the U.S. capital, Washington, where ways to strengthen research and academic cooperation between the two sides on issues related to Iraqi affairs were discussed.
During the meeting, Al-Hammood reviewed Al-Bayan Center’s vision and research programs, in addition to the most prominent academic and dialogue activities carried out by the Center as part of its annual strategy, highlighting the most important issues and areas on which it is working in Iraqi and regional affairs.
The meeting also included a dialogue seminar on Iraqi affairs, during which Al-Hammood spoke about the most notable political developments and recent developments related to government formation, as well as the challenges it faces, particularly the social challenges associated with the conditions and concerns of young people.
Al-Hammood also addressed the regional changes surrounding Iraq, and its position within the new regional security equation and the shifts in the balance of power, emphasizing the importance of leveraging Iraq’s geopolitical position as a central strategic anchor for enhancing stability in the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Hammood stressed the importance of maintaining active engagement within Iraq through dialogues, meetings, and joint discussions with researchers, academics, and research centers, extending an official invitation to the New Lines Institute to visit Baghdad.
The meeting comes on the sidelines of Al-Hammood’s visit to Washington to participate in the Iraq Dialogue Forum 2026, hosted by the Atlantic Council / Iraq Initiative, from 13 to 15 May, with the participation of a select group of political, academic, research, and media figures from Iraq and the United States.
