Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning in Baghdad received a delegation from the Atlantic Council, led by Victoria Taylor, Director of the Iraq Initiative in the Council’s Middle East Programs, on an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two sides.
The delegation included senior figures from the Atlantic Council’s Middle East programs, including William Wechsler, Director of the Rafik Hariri Center and Middle East Programs; Jonathan Panikoff, Director of the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative; Ibrahim Al-Aseel, Non-Resident Senior Fellow leading the Syria Project; and Nibras Bsitki, Deputy Director of the Iraq Initiative in Middle East Programs.
Dr. Ali Taher Al-Hammood, Executive Director of the Center, delivered a brief presentation on Al-Bayan Center’s activities and research domains, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in supporting rigorous studies and enriching public policy dialogues in Iraq.
The delegation also reviewed the Center’s key research and scientific projects in the areas of study and research preparation, policy analysis, and the organization of in-depth dialogues and conferences on strategic issues within the Center’s scope. These initiatives aim to meet the needs of policymakers and researchers and provide necessary recommendations and proposals to decision-makers.
The two parties further discussed opportunities to expand collaboration and exchange research expertise, particularly in the field of strategic studies related to Iraq, and to enhance communication between both sides to contribute to an active role for Iraqi think-tank experts, researchers, and academics in providing scientific consultations concerning Iraq.
