Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning (BCSP) Hosts a Delegation from the European Institute of Peace
Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning (BCSP) welcomed a delegation from the European Institute of Peace, led by Mr. Michael Batic.
The delegation met with BCSP’s Executive Director, Dr. Ali Taher Hammood, during which they exchanged views on the current political developments and discussed possible efforts to promote peace and end conflict in Iraq and the region.
Dr. Hammood expressed appreciation for the European Institute of Peace’s interest and its role in advancing peace in the Middle East. He called for increased focus on the Syrian issue and its repercussions on Iraq and neighboring countries, emphasizing the need to support transitional justice processes, draft a permanent constitution, protect minorities, deliver services to citizens, and combat terrorism and prevent extremism.
He also highlighted BCSP’s plans to activate Track II diplomacy by working with civil society, think tanks, academics, and social leaders in Syria to promote peace and share the Iraqi experience with the country.
In turn, the Director of the European Institute of Peace praised BCSP’s efforts in peacebuilding and its projects aimed at preventing extremism, underscoring the importance of dialogue as a key opportunity to achieve regional stability.
