Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning held a dialogue seminar to discuss the general federal budget for the years 2023-2025.

The seminar was attended by the Second Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee in the parliament, Ms. Ikhlas Al-Dulaimi, the Chairman of the Board of Advisors in the Council of Ministers, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Faisal, and the academic and economist Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani.

Al-Faisal pointed out that comparing the proposed operational budget with its counterparts from budgets in previous years is wrong. The needs and commitments that the government must meet need to expand spending due to the forced austerity that the country has experienced for years, adding that there are multiple programs and funds aimed at providing job opportunities for young people and activating the private sector. Al-Dulaimi stressed that the committee will finish preparing the budget within ten days, noting the committee’s interest in social welfare allocations and reducing heavy losses caused by losing companies, especially industrial ones, with attention to the agricultural sector and water resources. As for the scene, he saw that the tripartite budget is a positive solution for many decades in the Iraqi economy, calling for its passage despite the observations.

Former ministers, deputies, advisers and elite academics, and interested people participated in the seminar.
