Al-Bayan Center for Planning and Studies presented the preliminary results of a research study on the reality of health security in Iraq.

The results of the study were presented by the researcher Ahmed Khudayir, noting that “the long crisis in Iraq for years has weakened the country’s ability to respond to serious threats to public health. The recent humanitarian crisis in Iraq has not only led to massive population displacement, but also to structural damage to the public health system and the creation of poor environmental health conditions that have exposed hundreds of thousands to the risk of transitional diseases. In addition, the destruction of health facilities means that any spread of an epidemic can cause significant strain on the country’s health system as well as the prevalence of disease-induced illnesses and deaths”.

it is worth mentioning that Al-Bayan Center for Planning and Studies is an independent, nonprofit think tank based in Baghdad, Iraq. Its primary mission is to offer an authentic perspective on public policy issues related to Iraq and to provide policy recommendations to political leaders and decision-makers.
