Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning, represented by the Director of the Research Department, Mustafa Al-Sarrai, participated in a panel symposium held by the Bahr Al-Uloom Forum for Dialogue titled: “China in Iraqi Eyes: Outcomes of the Iraqi Think Tanks’ Visit and Prospects for Benefiting from It.”
\nThe symposium witnessed light shed on the results of the Iraqi research centers’ visit to China and on the nature of the transformations taking place in the Republic of China. Al-Sarrai reviewed China’s endeavors to formulate its own vision and concepts for state administration and international relations.
\nAl-Sarrai spoke about the role of research centers within China’s institutional structure and how they operate within the framework of research-center diplomacy, in addition to the elements of Chinese power upon which they rely.
\nIn conclusion, Al-Sarrai emphasized the necessity of understanding the Chinese strategic perception and where Iraq stands within it, as well as how to benefit from Chinese experiences in various dossiers, such as counter-terrorism and managing diversity and minorities, in a manner commensurate with the Iraqi character. He stressed the importance of sustaining these sessions due to the cognitive value they add and the enrichment they bring to discussions on important subjects that the intellectual and scientific literature lacks in terms of addressing them as realistic experiences suitable for study and analysis.<\/h4>\n
